Wood Measurements, Storage & Care

Natural wood deserves clear information

Wood is a natural material. Color, grain, figure, density, surface texture, checks, bark inclusions, mineral marks, reused nail holes, and other characteristics can vary from one piece to another. For one-of-a-kind or exact-piece listings, the piece shown is the piece being sold unless the listing clearly states otherwise.

Measurements

Dimensions are provided as accurately as reasonably possible. Small variations can occur because wood surfaces are not always perfectly square or uniform. When a project requires a critical minimum dimension, contact us before ordering and we can review the piece more closely.

Weight and density

When weight or density is provided, it is an additional practical reference. Natural variation, moisture content, shape, and measurement method can affect calculated density, so these values should not be treated as laboratory certification unless specifically stated.

Storage

Store wood in a dry, stable environment with reasonable airflow. Avoid sudden changes in temperature or humidity. Do not store pieces directly beside a stove, radiator, heater, or another strong heat source. Wood can move as it acclimates to a new environment, especially after shipping.

Before machining

Inspect the piece, confirm your required dimensions, and allow it to acclimate when appropriate for your project. Use proper tools, dust collection, and personal protective equipment suitable for woodworking. Some tropical woods can cause irritation or sensitization in certain people.

Not for animal bedding or chewing material

Our exotic wood is sold for woodworking and craft use. Do not use shavings, dust, offcuts, or unknown exotic species as animal bedding, nesting material, chew material, or food-contact material unless the specific species and intended use are independently confirmed as safe.
